Dr. V.N .Sanjeevan

Dr. V. N. SANJEEVAN is the Former Director, Centre for Marine Living Resources & Ecology, Ministry of Earth Sciences. He completed his Post Graduation from Mumbai University, his Ph.D. from Central Institute of Fisheries Education, Mumbai and Post-doctoral research on Climate Change and Fisheries at the Climate Research Centre, University of East Anglia, U.K. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology, conferred in 2012. Started professional career as a lecturer at Mumbai University and Joined Department of Ocean Development in 1989 as a scientist. He retired in 2013 as the Director of Centre for Marine Living Resources & Ecology, Kochi. He now serves as Professor Chair at the Center of Excellence in Aquatic Resource Management & Conservation, KUFOS. Dr. Sanjeevan has served as Official representative of Govt. of India in various international Committees such as Commission for Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources, the Census of Marine Life, the OBIS and Indo-US collaboration on Science & Technology. He was Member of the Governing Council of Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) from 2010 to 2015. He is currently a Member of International Group of Experts on World Ocean, the Antarctic Legislation Committee of Govt. of India, the CSIR Committee on BIO-fuels, the RAC of CMFRI, the Board of Studies KUFOS, Andhra University, NCAAH-CUSAT. He has numerous international research publications to his credit.

Dr.P.Madeswaran Scientist F, marine biologist and presently working as Scientist at NCCR (formerly as Integrated Coastal and Marine Area Management - Project Directorate (ICMAM-PD)), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Chennai. He has twenty-five years of experience and expertise in handling multidisciplinary R&D programmes in the areas of environment and resources assessment, policy development and multilateral agreements at the national, regional (South Asia Cooperative Environment Programme) and global levels (Commission for Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources). During April 1989, he joined as a Research Assistant in Ministry of Environment and Forests, New Delhi and was promoted to Research Officer in 1993. In 1994, he joined as Senior Scientific Officer at Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), erstwhile called “Department of Ocean Development (DOD)” and associated in implementation of various nationally coordinated research programmes, viz., (i) Coastal Ocean Monitoring and Prediction System (COMAPS); (ii) Integrated Coastal and Marine Area Management (ICMAM); (iii) Assessment of Marine Living Resources (MLR); and (iv) Development of potential drugs from ocean (Drugs from sea). He has provided intellectual leadership for successful implementation of R&D activities in the field of marine sciences
