The “National Report on Deep-Sea and Distant-Water Fishery Resources of Indian EEZ”, presents a scientific assessment of deep-sea and distant-water fishery resources of the Indian Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). It synthesizes information from extensive surveys conducted by CMLRE onboard FORV Sagar Sampada, along with secondary data and relevant scientific literature. The report reviews the current status of deep-sea fishery research in India, identifies knowledge gaps, and outlines future needs, opportunities, and strategic pathways for resource exploration and development. It emphasizes the strengthening of sustainable management practices through science-based approaches, advanced monitoring tools, and improved observational frameworks, in support of national priorities in blue economy development and marine conservation. This report was edited by Dr. V.N. Sanjeevan, Former Director, CMLRE and Dr. Baban Ingole, Retired Scientist, NIO and RAC member, CMLRE.
